Our mission for the Local Integration & Family Empowerment (LIFE) Project is to assist resilient individuals restore their freedom, dignity and independence through comprehensive services, such as access to: jobs, education, and health. Our staff conducts outreach to identify these populations and partners with public and non-profit agencies. We provide individualized services that address the most urgent needs and empower them to become self-sufficient.
For many refugees, fleeing violence and persecution in their home country can be traumatic. Once they arrive in Jacksonville they often face additional challenges, such as: feeling a loss of culture and community, adapting to a foreign environment, and lacking resources. MASS Local Integration & Family Empowerment (LIFE) Program, still overseas, with local family or friends. Case managers work with these “local ties” to arrange airport reception, grant resettlement funds, conduct mental health screenings, provide community orientation, access public benefits, and find employment and housing. These comprehensive support services, along with the refugees’ local ties, significantly ease their resettlement and transition to fulfilling lives in their new community.
The Food Pantry is part of our Food is Medicine program. This program allows access to the food pantry within our clinic to patients, as well as the public, who have food insecurities.
Our mission is to bridge the gap in healthcare by providing free, continuous care to the underserved community in Duval County. We cater to individuals who are uninsured, with an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guideline, and residing in Duval County. This care is provided to improve public health, lower healthcare costs, and reduce the burden on local hospital emergency rooms. Through collaborative efforts with local healthcare institutions, We Care clinics, and faith-based organizations, we provide free, volunteer-based care management.
